Customs seeks scanning unit to strengthen cargo surveillance capabilities
The Jamaica Customs Agency is seeking to acquire equipment to set up a scanning unit that would strengthen its surveillance and cargo scanning capabilities.
Commissioner of Customs Major Richard Reese says the acquisition of the equipment would result in improved border protection.
Reese says with the scanning unit, Customs would be able to identify products inside containers more accurately and facilitate additional views if suspicious product are identified.
Major Reese says the agency has requested tablets to assist with the scanning of cargo in the meantime.
