UPDATE: One man arrested in Kingston warehouse gun, ammunition find

One man remains in police custody in connection with a major gun and ammunition bust at a Kingston warehouse.

The police have not released the name of the detainee.

In the meantime, the police say the weapons which were found in a container have been sent to the Government Forensic Laboratory for testing and analysis. 

The find comprises:

• One –  bushmaster rifle
• One –  Comanche 357 revolver
• One –  Para- Ordinance .45 pistol
• Four hundred and sixty seven – .45 cartridges
• One hundred –  .44 cartridges
• One hundred and ninety seven –  5.56 cartridges
• Forty –  .380 cartridges
• Twenty five – 12-gauge cartridges
• Thirty eight – .357 cartridges
•  Two – M-16 magazines
• Five – 9mm magazines, one of which is extended
• One – Tactical Smoke Bomb and
• One – Firearm cleaning accessory

The police say since December 2015 detectives assigned to the Guns for Trade Task Force and personnel from the Jamaica Customs Department’s Contraband Enforcement Team have been investigating a major gun smuggling operation between Jamaica and the United States.
