According to reports, security officers from a private company initially went to a supermarket on Great George's Street after an alarm went off there.

Four cops later responded.

The police say when they arrived on the scene they were greeted with gun fire which they returned.

They say that's when the three men were shot dead.

They are yet to be identified.

Meanwhile, Budhoo says although some money was stolen from the supermarket, the police recovered some on the scene along with several boxes of cigarettes and other items.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing the matter.
