Keith Blake eyes

mayor position

Defeated South Eastern St Catherine Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) candidate and sitting councillor for the Independence City division of the Portmore Municipal Council Keith Blake is now eyeing the position of mayor for the

municipal council.

Blake, the lone JLP councillor on the municipal council, told The Gleaner that he has started the work to reverse the present trend and ensure that the Jamaica Labour Party gets majority representation on the council.

"I will be working assiduously to make sure that we have the majority on the council. A number of people have been asking me about my own position. Yes, I am interested in running for mayor as long as the people want me to be their mayor," Blake revealed.

"The results of the general election has given the JLP a very good chance to win the majority of the municipal divisions in Portmore and to provide effective representation for the people," he added.

Blake was critical of the electoral process in the South Eastern St Catherine constituency, where he narrowly lost.
