UPDATE: Top-level probe launched into killing of St Ann cop at White River party

The Police High Command has launched a top-level probe ‎into Sunday night's shooting death of  police constable Shane Francis in White River, near Ocho Rios, St Ann.

‎Francis, 30, who was attached to the St Ann Police Division‎ was shot dead by a man, said to be a licensed firearm holder.

It is reported that about 11:30 p.m., Francis was at a party in White River when he and the other man got into an altercation.

Guns were drawn and Francis shot dead.

In the meantime, the Police High Command has expressed condolences to the family and colleagues of the slain cop.

It has also offered counselling support through the police chaplaincy branch.
