UPDATE: Flash Flood Warning downgraded to Flash Flood Watch

Published:Saturday | April 23, 2016 | 4:04 PM

The Flash Flood Warning that has been in place for low-lying and flood prone areas in eastern parishes has been downgraded to a Flash Flood Watch.

The Meteorological Service says the Flash Flood Watch will remain in effect until 5 o’clock tomorrow morning.

A Flash Flood Watch means that flooding is likely and residents should take precautionary measures, listen for further updates from the Met Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.

In its latest update issue at 5 o’clock this afternoon, the Met Service said a trough across the island is expected to continue influencing weather conditions.

It says satellite imagery and radar observations indicate that a decrease in showers in likely, but cautioned that light to moderate showers could continue across northeastern parishes.
