IDT bars disgruntled Petrojam workers from protest

Disgruntled employees of the state-owned oil refinery, Petrojam have been barred by the Industrial Disputes Tribunal [IDT] from engaging in any protest action.

This follows a restraining order issued by the IDT yesterday.

It follows a decision by the workers, who are represented by the Petroleum Workers Association, to serve the management of Petrojam with a 72-hour notice of industrial action over the delay in completing their wage negotiations.

The Ministry of Labour says the matter was referred to the IDT after the workers refused to withdraw the threat of industrial action during an emergency meeting at its downtown Kingston offices on Friday.
