Policeman shot during attempted robbery in Vineyard Town

The police are investigating an incident in which a policeman attached to the Kingston Western division was shot and injured during an attempted robbery in Vineyard Town Monday night.

Head of the Kingston Eastern police division Superintendent Lennox Harper says the policeman received one gunshot wound and is in serious but stable condition at hospital.

It is reported that the policeman, who operates his personal motor vehicle as a taxi, picked up two men who later attempted to rob him as he was transporting them.

The policeman was shot during a reported tussle with the men.
