Wheatley says making the report public is a priority of the government.

The public will have to wait a while longer to get the final copy of the much anticipated bad gas report.

Last week, Energy minister Dr Andrew Wheatley said the report would be made public after it was reviewed by Cabinet.

There was an expectation that the report would have been discussed in Cabinet on Monday.

However, Dr Wheatley says a summary of the report is being prepared for Cabinet to review.

Wheatley says he is hoping to submit this document at next week's Cabinet meeting.

He says the Energy ministry is putting measures in place for the reestablishment of an inspectorate to regulate the petroleum sector as was recommended in the bad gas report.
