In an interview with JIS News, Bartlett said the February 25 General Election and the presence of the Zika virus on the island may have negatively impacted growth.

Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett says the ministry is anticipating a three per cent increase in arrivals when figures for the just concluded 2015/16 Winter Tourist season are compiled.

The season ran from December 15, 2015 to April 15, 2016.

In an interview with JIS News, Bartlett said the February 25 General Election and the presence of the Zika virus on the island may have negatively impacted growth.

However, he says despite these issues the tourism ministry is still expecting to see positive movements in arrivals.

Looking ahead to the summer season, Bartlett says forecasts for arrivals are very good, although the fall months are sometimes unpredictable.
