Dancehall artiste Popcaan fined after pleading guilty to assault charges in Antigua
Dancehall artiste Popcaan has been fined EC$1,000 (J$45,000) or six months in prison on each of the two offences with which he was charged following a tussle with a policeman at a stage show in Antigua on Monday night.
The sentences were handed down by a magistrate when Popcaan appeared in court today after he pleaded guilty to both charges.
Popcaan, whose real name is Andre Sutherland, pleaded guilty to the charges of battery on police officer and obstructing a police officer.
The tussle happened after Popcaan intervened in a confrontation between the cop and a fan who had made his way to the performance area.
