Head of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Warren McDonald is expressing hope that the recently announced Economic Growth Council will be able to finally spur the revitalisation of the downtown Kingston business district.

Chairman of the National Commercial Bank, Michael Lee Chin, was named as chairman of the Council last week.

As Jamaica's growth czar, Lee Chin's main mandate will be to achieve economic growth of five per cent over the next four years.

Speaking on Independent Talk on Power 106 FM this morning, McDonald said downtown Kingston must be an integral part of the consideration of the growth council.
