PNP saddened by Jacobs' death

Jacobs unsuccessfully contested the 2014 Central Westmoreland by-election for the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) against the PNP’s Dwayne Vaz.

The People’s National Party (PNP) has joined in expressing condolences following the alleged suicide of former banker and politician Faye Reid Jacobs.

The police say Jacobs died yesterday two hours after she was taken to hospital after reportedly ingesting a chemical substance.

In a release, the PNP says it is saddened by this event and offered condolences to her family and friends.

The party also Reid Jacob's contribution to the political life of Jamaica.

Jacobs unsuccessfully contested the 2014 Central Westmoreland by-election for the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) against the PNP’s Dwayne Vaz.

She resigned as the JLP’s caretaker for the constituency less than one year after the defeat.

Earlier today, General Secretary of the JLP, Dr Horace Chang said the party was also shocked at Jacobs' passing.

Chang said she was an important member of the JLP who was committed to the principles and vision of the Party. 

Jacobs was the Executive Director of the consultancy firm Caribbean Integrated Financial Services Limited.
