Phillips overseas ... to miss Shaw's Budget Debate opening

Phillips said, before leaving Jamaica, he spoke to Shaw and also wrote to him conveying regret.

Opposition spokesman on finance and planning Dr Peter Phillips will miss the opening of the Budget Debate today when the Finance Minister Audley will reveal how he intends to fund the $580 billion Budget.

This is because Phillips is overseas fulfilling "an important previously scheduled family commitment".

Phillips said, before leaving Jamaica, he spoke to Shaw and also wrote to him conveying regret.

He also said Shaw replied expressing understanding.
