A supermarket, wholesale and hardware along Main Street in Porus was robbed of an undetermined sum of money after the owner and his family were held hostage by gunmen.

According to the Manchester police, approximately 4 a.m. on Thursday, the owner of the Jin Xian Ye Supermarket along Main Street in the town was taken from his house by four gunmen and ordered to go to his business place located nearby.

It is reported that three members of the family were held hostage by one of the gunmen who had entered the house through a bathroom window. The other three gunmen then ordered the business owner to displace the surveillance cameras and robbed him of cash, a cell phone, cigarettes, and phone cards.

The police suspect that the perpetrators are from the area and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
