The St Teckle Haimanot Early Childhood Learning Centre in Taylor Lands, Bull Bay in St Andrew, has been selected by the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC) as its 2016 Labour Day project on May 23. Labour Day 2016 is being observed under the theme: 'For Health's Sake, Keep It Clean'.

Speaking at the KSAC's monthly meeting recently, Deputy Mayor of Kingston and St Andrew, Councillor Andrew Swaby, said the St Teckle Haimanot Early Childhood Learning Centre was chosen as this year's parish project because they wanted to clean up the school premises and the surrounding community, adding that this would fit in with the Health Ministry's campaign to get rid of mosquito breeding sites.

Councillor for the Dallas division, Patricia Morgan, explained that the school is located in an unregulated settlement and serves a large population. Morgan said she is anticipating good support from the residents and the business community.

"The school ground will be cleaned, the school painted and old doors replaced. We are also going to assist in getting potable water on the compound," she noted.
