CARICOM should lobby for Venezuela relief - Crawford
Political scientist Richard Crawford is urging CARICOM to use its influence to press for relief for Venezuela.
Commenting on Nicolas Maduro's one-day visit to Jamaica, Crawford says the region should send a message to the United States to end its attempts to destabilise the Venezuelan government. He says the Opposition in Venezuela has been able to draw its strength from the operations of the US.
He says there must be an immediate response to the famine-aligned crisis in Venezuela and says the Latin-American nation should, in addition to CARICOM, look to China, Russia and even its neighbour, Brazil for assistance with food and medicine.
Maduro is now travelling to Trinidad following his one-day visit to Jamaica
