Finance and Public Service Minister Audley Shaw said the administration aims to ensure that salaries remain in line with the government’s targets of wage to Gross Domestic Product.

The Government is expected to begin negotiations for public sector salaries for the 2017/19 contract period later this year.

Finance and Public Service Minister Audley Shaw said the administration aims to ensure that salaries remain in line with the government’s targets of wage to Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Under the deal with the International Monetary Fund ( IMF), Jamaica has agreed to attain a wage to GDP ratio of nine per cent.

Shaw says the ratio is projected for 9.9 per cent this fiscal year and is expected to lower further to targeted ration by 2019/20.

He was speaking at an IMF quarterly review media briefing on Friday.
