Woman caught with $1 million worth of cocaine arrested at airport
A woman caught with packages containing cocaine on a flight destined for London was yesterday arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport.
She was arrested on suspicion of breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
The police say about 4:15 p.m., Narcotics Police were conducting security checks in the departure hall on passengers waiting to board a flight destined for London, England.
During the process, a female passenger’s luggage was searched and two packages containing approximately 2.5 pounds of cocaine - which has a street value of just over $1 million - were found.
She was subsequently arrested.
Arrangements are now being made for her to be questioned in the presence of her attorneys, after which it is expected that she will be formally charged.
