Older NHT schemes to get needed attention
Prime Minister Andrew Holness says steps are to be taken to improve conditions in older National Housing Trust schemes which have deteriorated over time.
He says the government is not able to carry out the work this year.
However, he says a programme will be rolled out within the next two years to address the state of these housing schemes.
Holness made the announcement during his 2016/17 Budget Debate presentation in the House of Representatives yesterday.
The Prime Minister also announced that persons earning up to $12,000 per week will be able to borrow a maximum of $4.89 million from the NHT without interest.
He says over the next three years, the NHT will partner with private and public sector entities to develop over 10,000 housing solutions for contributors.
