Students’ Loan applications deadline May 31
The Students’ Loan Bureau (SLB) is reminding new and returning tertiary students that the deadline to apply for general loans is May 31.
The SLB's Public Relations Manager Analisa Allen says general loans are those that people repay after they have completed their programme of study.
SLB is also encouraging persons having difficulties getting guarantors to inform the Bureau, as arrangements can be made to secure loans with a sole guarantor process.
Meanwhile, the SLB says as of this year interest will be charged on the reducing loan balances for new and returning students.
It says this will result in repayments being smaller and more manageable for persons.
Last year the SLB disbursed some $4.2 billion to over twelve thousand applicants.
The SLB says some 93 per cent of applicants were successful in getting loans for teritiary education last year.
