Tax Administration warns of scammers
Tax Administration of Jamaica (TAJ) says scammers in the Old Harbour Business district have been impersonating its Compliance Officers and are demanding individuals pay over taxes to them or face court action.
TAJ is advising the public that no business is to be conducted with persons who fail to produce proper identification issued by the agency.
The TAJ says it has reported the matter to the police who are working with it to address the issue.
Meanwhile, the TAJ is reminding business persons that they may visit the nearest Tax Office and speak with a Compliance Officer about outstanding balances.
It also says persons may create a payment plan using the TAJ's website.
