Police seize two firearms in Manchester, St Catherine

In the first incident, the Bog Walk Police say about 2:45 p.m., a man who was walking along the Knollis main road in Bog Walk St Catherine dropped a bag and ran when he spotted a team of police personnel.

The police yesterday seized two firearms in separate incidents in Manchester and St Catherine.

The police say the bag was retrieved and a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver and three .38 rounds found.

In the second incident, 19-year-old Derval Henry of Hopeton district, Manchester was arrested after he was held with a Glock 17 9mm pistol and 43 rounds of ammunition.

The Mandeville police say the weapon was found during an operation in Kingsland district.

According to the police, between 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., cops were on an operation when a man was seen acting in a suspicious manner.

The police say he was accosted and searched and the weapon found.

Henry was subsequently arrested and charged for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and booked to appear in the Mandeville Residents Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, May 31.
