There was loud applause from workers at the Lakes Pen, St Catherine-based Wisynco warehouse this morning when CEO Andrew Mahfood announced that all jobs are secure following Thursday’s massive fire that destroyed the facility.

Several workers, much fewer than the 2,000 the company employs, turned up at the location this morning and were addressed by Mahfood outside the corporate offices.

In the meantime, Mahfood says Wisynco is in negotiations for alternative warehouse space to minimise the disruption caused by the fire.

While he was speaking, fire-fighters, some left weary from the overnight battle of the blaze were still carrying out cooling down operations as the fire continued to smoulder in the 260,000-foot warehouse.

An estimate of the damage is not yet finalised and fire officials are yet to determine the cause of the blaze.
