Francis Amair on point at Marksman Limited

Francis Amair, regional manager at Marksman Limited, knows the value of keeping customers happy. Having served in varying client relations based positions over the years, he believes in providing customers and clients with realistic expectations and following through with them. This he said will help to build brand loyalty and improve your business' reputation.

Amair, who spent his early years in Kingston moved to Montego Bay where he attended Cornwall College for three years, then completed high school at Munro College. After graduation, Amair studied at the Montego Bay Community College then the University of the West Indies where he studied political science and criminology.

Initially, Amair wanted a career in the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), however after a stint at Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay, he had a change of heart.

"I applied to the JCF and was successful, however when they called me for training I decided I wanted a career in industrial and commercial security and not law enforcement," Amair told The Gleaner.

At Sandals, Amair's eyes were opened to a world of opportunities and he began to appreciate even more the importance of customer service to any business. As a junior sales executive and sales executive supervisor he had the opportunity to interact with clients and customers daily.

"I received very good training and although I already knew that the world was there for the taking, the experiences cemented my desire to reach for the higher heights that I have worked assiduously for over the years," Amair said.

After leaving Sandals, Amair joined Marksman Limited as a mobile supervisor. His duties entailed supervising the officers on duty for among other things quality assurance.

Five months into the post, Amair was promoted to location manager at the Sangster International Airport where his duties included coordinating aviation security activities.

"The position included heavy client interaction to ensure that all service levels were maintained. This required a high level of patience and determination especially due to the fact that while I was also managing the location I attended several training opportunities provided to me by the company," Amair said.

Today, Amair is a certified Aviation Security Instructor having completed programmes with the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA) and the Organisation of American States Anti-Terrorism programme.

His journey to the top led to the assistant zone manager with responsibility for St James and Hanover, followed by operations manager with further responsibilities that included Trelawny.

In his present role as regional manager, Amair has high praises for his team describing them as priceless. "I have always been an advocate of the philosophy that you are your team. I have been privileged to work with a well rounded set of persons who are committed to their job and the company. This is for me the high point of my success," Amair said.

The consummate family man, Amair is determined to reach the top of his game. This came out of an incident in his childhood which made him decide that as long as he lived he would work hard to ensure his family is never in need.

Amair is undaunted by critics and continues to ensure that while serving in his present capacity at Marksman Limited, the company continues to strive for excellence.

"Our objective is to ensure that we maintain sustainable growth, acquire new business and new clients and continue to strengthen our clientele. I believe in having healthy professional relationships with my officers and that is always my priority," he said.
