Police Constable Gladstone Williams has been charged for the murder of Corporal Judith Williams.

Williams was charged yesterday after he was pointed out in an identification parade.

The policeman remains in custody and a date is to be set for him to appear in court.

On Tuesday, the court ordered the police to release or charge him by today.

It made the ruling following a habeas corpus application by the accused's attorney Peter Champagnie.

The policeman has been in police custody for weeks as the police probe the April 28 shooting of Corporal Williams who was attacked by gunmen who shot her multiple times after she left her east Kingston home for work.

Corporal Williams died the next day in hospital.
