UPDATE: Developers investigate reasons behind North-South Highway landslide

Developers of the North-South link of Highway 2000 are still carrying out investigations to determine what structural issues may have caused a landslide along the section of the roadway between Unity Valley and Treadways in St Catherine.

Head of Communication in the Transport Ministry, Vando Palmer says the developers are certain that the slippage was caused by saturated soil from the recent heavy rains.

But he says they are not certain if that was the only reason for the landslide which has blocked the lanes leading toward Kingston.

Last night developers opened one of the lanes leading to Kingston although the dirt hasn't been cleared.

Arrangements have also been made for one of the north lanes to be used by vehicles heading into Kingston.
