Shaw to address JNBS Outlook for the Future in UK

Minister of Finance and Public Service Audley Shaw will be the guest speaker at the 2016 'Outlook for the Future' forum to be staged by the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) and the Jamaican High Commission in the United Kingdom at One Great George Street, Westminster, London, on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Live streaming of the event will be available via www.livestream.com.

The annual Outlook for the Future forum, established in 2003, provides Jamaicans and other Caribbean residents in the UK diaspora with current economic and social data and gives them an opportunity to ask questions about the developmental directions of the Government of Jamaica.

Earl Jarrett, general manager of JNBS, pointed out that the forum generates frank dialogue between government officials and Jamaicans in the diaspora as many Jamaicans maintain investments and family relations locally, even as they participate in the life of their adopted country.

"JN continues to play a pivotal role in the lives of our nationals overseas and, therefore, against the background of the recent budget presentation and indications that Jamaica is on track with its International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, we envision that a lot of interest will be generated for participation in this year's forum," Jarrett said.

"Over the years, the information gleaned from Outlook for the Future has also influenced public policy and major lifestyle decisions in Jamaica," the JN general manager revealed.

In its 13 years of existence, the forum has been addressed by a range of Jamaican leaders.
