Jamaicans are divided on whether the country should adopt Spanish as its second official language.

The proposal was made by Prime Minister Andrew Holness while speaking in Parliament this week.

Holness said there are many opportunities Jamaicans could exploit if they were fluent in Spanish, especially with the opening up of the Cuban economy.
