Ethiopia's foreign minister in Jamaica
Ethiopia’s foreign minister, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, is expected in the island today for an historic two-day official visit.
The visit is the first by an Ethiopian minister of government and is aimed at strengthening relations between Jamaica and Ethiopia.
It also comes nearly five decades after the visit of Emperor Haile Selassie in 1966.
The Ethiopian Consulate says Tedros will meet with several government ministers in an effort to boost what it describes as the long-standing relations between the two countries.
It says the Ethiopian foreign minister will also seek support for his country’s bid to become a member of the United Nations Security Council next year.
