Two Jamaicans believed to be among 49 killed in Orlando gay night club shooting
The Jamaican Consulate General in Miami says it has received unconfirmed reports that at least two persons killed in the Orlando nightclub massacre were Jamaicans.
But the foreign affairs ministry says the consulate is seeking to confirm these reports.
Foreign affairs minister Kamina Johnson Smith, who is abroad, says checks are being done through the Office of Foreign Missions and the hospitals in Orlando.
Senator Johnson Smith says she has instructed the Consul General to remain in touch with the Jamaican community and its leaders to provide support where possible.
Fifty people were killed in the mass shooting in a gay club on Sunday morning.
