$1.4b in subventions disbursed to high schools - Reid

Senator Reid also said although the Government has increased its tuition support budget from $2.6 billion to $3.9 billion for the next school year, parents should continue to support schools where they can.

The Education Minister Senator Ruel Reid says his ministry has disbursed more than $1.4 billion in subventions to high schools to begin preparation for the upcoming academic year.

On assuming office, the Government announced the abolishing auxiliary fees and committed to an early release of subvention to schools in four tranches.

Speaking at this morning’s post-Cabinet press briefing, Senator Reid said the Government has honoured its commitment.
