Opposition Senator K.D Knight says Prime Minister Andrew Holness should fire attorney general Marlene Malahoo Forte in light of her remarks about the flying of the rainbow at the United States Embassy in Kingston in solidarity with the victims of the Orlando gay nightclub shooting.

According to Knight, a former Justice Minister under the People's National Party (PNP) administration, the move would be for the good of Jamaica at this time because Malahoo Forte is simply not ready for the job.

"Add attorney general to (Delroy) Chuck's portfolio, and the present attorney general: You (are) young. Go understand these issues and when you learn it, you can come back again," Knight said last night at a PNP meeting in the St Andrew South Constituency.

On Tuesday, Malahoo Forte triggered a firestorm when she tweeted that the flying of the rainbow flag by the US Embassy disrespected Jamaican laws.

In the meantime, Knight has endorsed the bid of colleague senator Mark Golding as constituency chairman for St Andrew South.

Golding's election as constituency chairman would be the first step in his ambition to succeed Dr Omar Davies as MP.
