Two escape injury after collapse of derelict building's wall in school zone
Two pedestrians narrowly escaped injuries when a section of a derelict building collapsed amid windy conditions on Sutton Street in downtown Kingston this morning.
The building, a former bookshop, is located across from the St Aloysius Primary School and could pose further risks to hundreds of students who attend the institution.
The Kingston and St Andrew Corporation has repeatedly said it will be moving to deal with the issue of derelict buildings in the city.
Town Clerk for the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC), Robert Hill, says the City Engineer has been dispatched to a scene where a section of a derelict building on Sutton Street in downtown Kingston collapsed this morning.
Hill says he expects a report after an assessment is carried out.
