Weather: Rain and windy conditions to linger until Friday

This NOAA satellite image taken today at 12:45 a.m. EDT shows a large amount of thunderstorm activity over much of the Caribbean.

The Meteorological Service of Jamaica is reporting that several sections of the island are experiencing increased rainfall and windy conditions as the country is being impacted by weather systems.

According to the Met Office, there’s now a Trough across the western Caribbean as well as a Tropical Wave just east of Jamaica.

It says the Tropical Wave will move across Jamaica later today and will be west of Jamaica this afternoon.

The Trough will, however, linger across Jamaica until tomorrow afternoon when a High Pressure Ridge will become the significant feature.

The Met office has forecast that there will be isolated and scattered showers and thunderstorms across sections of the island today.

It says for tomorrow and Thursday morning, there will be showers across eastern parishes and windy afternoons with showers and thunderstorms.

Friday is expected to be mostly sunny in the morning followed by windy conditions in the afternoon with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the Met Office says a Small Craft Warning remains in effect for offshore areas of the south coast due to strong winds and rough seas.
