McKenzie is set to make his contribution when the House of Representatives sits this afternoon.

Opposition spokesman on local government Noel Arscott says portfolio minister Desmond McKenzie must outline a plan to have the Building Act passed during his contribution to the Sectoral Debate.

McKenzie is set to make his contribution when the House of Representatives sits this afternoon.

His presentation comes just weeks after the collapse of a section of a building at the Royalton construction site in Negril, Hanover, which injured five workers.

Arscott says McKenzie must address plans for the long-awaited Bill when he speaks.

He also says he is expecting Mr McKenzie to outline the drain cleaning initiatives that are in place for the hurricane season.

Arscott says the role of parish councils in the fight against the Zika virus as well as local government reform are important issues he is expecting McKenzie to also address.

McKenzie’s presentation also follows his recent announcement of an audit into the Hanover Parish Council where several irregularities were identified.

McKenzie also announced a probe into irregularities at another parish council and the country could get an update when he presents this afternoon.
