Carreras warns of counterfeit Craven ‘A’ cigarettes

Cigarette company Carreras is warning the public to be on the lookout for counterfeit Craven ‘A’ cigarettes.

Carreras says the Craven ‘A’ cigarettes carry a best before date of April 2014 and a product code with the digits: 870 240 322 154.

It says the date and code are printed in black on the bottom side panel of each cigarette pack.

The cigarette company says attempts are currently being made by unscrupulous individuals to sell the cigarettes in certain sections of the island including Kingston and St Andrew, Montego Bay, St James and in the Linstead/Bog Walk area of St Catherine.

Carrerras says it will vigorously prosecute and/or seek civil remedies against anyone found to be trading in counterfeit Craven ‘A’ cigarettes.

It stresses that the illicit cigarette trade hurts the company and also denies the Government of well-needed tax revenues.
