Yesterday while making his Sectoral presentation, Vaz said consideration was been given to an investment package worth more than $800 billion, which had the potential to create 80,000 jobs.

Minister without portfolio in the Economic Growth and Job Creation Ministry, Daryl Vaz, has declined to give further details of the 80,000 jobs he announced will soon be created saying, he doesn’t want to get people’s hopes up.

Yesterday while making his Sectoral presentation, Vaz said consideration was been given to an investment package worth more than $800 billion, which had the potential to create 80,000 jobs.

In an immediate response one union leader said Jamaicans should view the announcement cautiously as these pronouncements have been made in the past without the jobs materialising.

Questioned about the potential investment at a post-Cabinet press briefing this morning, Vaz said he would not want to say anything further until firm commitments have been given.

However, he promised he would provide details as soon as implementation dates and job creation figures are finalised.
