Attorney-at-Law Rose-Marie Gibbs is the first female of the Rotary Club of New Kingston in its 26-year history.

Attorney-at-Law Rose-Marie Gibbs will this evening be installed as the first female president for the Rotary Club of New Kingston in its 26-year existence.

Gibbs’ instalment marks a milestone reached for the club as women were not able to gain membership in the club until 30 years ago.

In keeping with the organisation’s theme for this year, ‘Rotary Serving Humanity’, the Rotary Club of New Kingston continues to play its part in the development of Jamaica through the giving of service above self, the motto that defines Rotary.

Over the years, Rotary has focused on implementing projects aimed primarily at satisfying the medical, dental and optical needs of members of various impoverished communities.

This year, it will be focusing on pursuing projects geared towards economic development for young persons who are vulnerable and at risk of exploitation.

Rotary International has over 1.2 million members belonging to nearly 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.
