The board of Morant Bay High School has been barred from filling the post of principal until a challenge by the former principal, Dr Dalton Shaw, is resolved in the courts.

This follows a court decision on Tuesday granting Dr Shaw permission to seek Judicial Review of his dismissal from the St Thomas-based school.

He was charged by the Board with Neglect of Duty; Professional Misconduct; and Improper Conduct in December 2014.

Shaw had appealed the decision of the Board of Management in January 2015.

But last month, the Appeals Tribunal of the Teacher's Service Commission upheld his termination.

In his 10-point Appeal, Shaw claimed the Personnel Committee erred in its conduct during the proceedings.

But all 10 grounds were dismissed and the Tribunal found that he had not been denied his right to natural justice.

The application for a review was filed by attorney at law, Andre Earle.

The matter is set to be heard on October 24.
