Jamaica Tallawahs set 159 for Trinbago Knight Riders after shaky start

Powerful hitting from batsman Rovman Powell and all-rounder Andre Russell guided Jamaica Tallawahs to 158 for seven off their allotted 20 overs in their HERO Motocorp Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 showdown against Trinbago Knight Riders at Sabina Park, Monday evening.

The 22-year- old Powell and Russell both clobbered 44 to lead the Tallawahs batting after they were sent in to bat.

Captain and opener Chris Gayle, in another rear failure, was dismissed for zero.

Chadwik Walton made 16, while internationals Kumar Sangakkara fell for 23 and Shakib Al Hasan for 10.

Bowling for Trinbago, pacer Kevon Cooper was outstanding with three for 22 off his four overs, while captain Dwayne Bravo finished with two for 39 off his four.

Mystery off-spinner Sunil Narine ended with one for 22 off his maximum.

Both teams are batting for ascendancy in the points standings with the Tallawahs in second position on nine points and the Knight Riders fourth on six points.
