A Canadian-based consultancy firm has given high marks to the Education System Transformation Programme which was implemented by Jamaica's education ministry to improve standards of performance and accountability in the education system.

Between 2004 and 2009, four agencies were created out of the Education System Transformation Programme including The Jamaica Teaching Council and the National Education Trust.

The Canadian firm, Mindbloom Consulting, has hailed the program for the improved performance in literacy and numeracy tests at the Grade 4 level as well as improvements in the Grade Six Achievement Test and the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate exams.

The firm also says greater accountability has been introduced throughout the education system because of the Education System Transformation Programme.
