Ninety local producers of authentic Jamaican gift and souvenir items will be showcasing their products and networking with corporate entities and various industry players at the second staging of 'Christmas in July'.

The event, hosted by the Tourism Linkages Network and its partners, is slated for July 28 at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston.

It will showcase Jamaican corporate gift solutions with a view to providing producers the opportunity to access an alternative market segment, while adding uniqueness and creativity to product offerings.

"We are accommodating these persons to showcase what it is that they have to offer to corporate Jamaica, the tourism industry, the missions and embassies," said head of the Tourism Linkages Network Carolyn McDonald-Riley.

Product categories that will be displayed at the event include traditional souvenirs of several kinds; corporate, home and decorative accessories; desktop solutions; specialty foods and aromatherapy/spa products.

Tremendous success

McDonald-Riley noted that the inaugural event last year was a tremendous success, with persons receiving orders on the spot.

"Based on the satisfaction survey that was done, persons were pleased with the show. They were pleased with what we had on display, and persons still continue to get orders for gifts. It was also successful because we were able to produce a corporate gift catalogue, which remains online," she pointed out.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The primary goal is to ensure that Jamaica's tourism sector becomes better integrated with local opportunities for other sectors, such as entertainment, agriculture and manufacturing.
