Brazil, here we come!

When photographer Delroy Daley got the call on July 11 that he had won a trip for two to Brazil to watch the summer games, courtesy of Red Stripe, he was speechless.

The 45-year-old, who plans to take his wife on the trip, said it was the first time he was winning anything in a competition.

"When they tell me that I win the trip to Brazil, trust me, I couldn't stand up," he said, grinning from ear to ear.

Daley and four other Red Stripe consumers were among the group of winners in the Go for Gold Summer Promotion who met the Red Stripe team at their Spanish Town Road offices recently. The winners were provided with details of their 10-day, all-expense paid trip to Brazil.

The lucky winners includes six Red Stripe customers and two sales executives from Red Stripe partners Celebration Brands Limited, who have also won similar grand prize packages.

"The Go for Gold campaign places emphasis on the experience of cheering on the Jamaican team to the games and encourages fans to watch with an ice-cold Red Stripe in hand," said Reshima Kelly, Red Stripe's assistant brand manager.

"By sending a group that is full of vibes to Brazil, we will also represent what's good about Jamaican fans in the stadium. It's a dream come true for any proud Jamaican."

Most of the winners said they were overwhelmed by the experience. The general sentiment among the group was disbelief, as many expected to win phone credit, cash or viewing parties, or nothing at all.

"When I called my boyfriend to tell him I had won, he said, 'You sure they not scamming you'. But this is real," said Valerie Dyer.

In addition to the trip to Brazil, each winner will get spending money. They leave the island for South America on August 11 for their once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
