Simpson Miller releases financial records, liquid assets just under $15 million

Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller has finally released her financial records showing that her liquid assets are worth just under $15 million.
Simpson Miller this afternoon disclosed copies of her filings which had been made to the Integrity Commission for the past 10 years.
Her disclosure comes weeks after she promised to do so and follows a similar move by Prime Minister Andrew Holness whose declared assets amount to of $152 Million in 2016 with liabilities $34.4 million.
The records show that Simpson Miller has approximately J$2,249,995 in savings at two local institutions and $50,000 in stocks.
In addition, she holds US$92,700 in US currency accounts at two local institutions.
When converted at the current exchange rate, the US accounts are valued approximately J$11.7 million.
Simpson Miller also declared her life insurance policies.
Meanwhile, her filings show that last year when Simpson Miller was Prime Minister, she earned $8.47 million.
Up February 29 this year before when she demitted office, Simpson Miller earned a total salary of $1.45 million.
In her declarations, Simpson Miller also indicated that she owns a property in Kingston 6.
She stated that she bought the property for $58,000 but did not state when she purchased the property or the current market value.
