The Microsoft LifeCam Cinema (high-definition) HD camera appears to be a well-designed product coming in a simple looking red and white box. The webcam has a solid aluminum body, making it lightweight as well as durable. The camera is mounted on a ball and socket joint that allows the device to be adjusted vertically and horizontally. The joint is fixed to a flexible stand that bends, folds and shapes for optimal positing on laptop as well as flat-panel monitors.

Powered by USB 2.0, the LifeCam does not use a lot of system resources to function. The LifeCam Cinema app, which can be downloaded, takes still pictures and records video and audio. In this app, you can also configure the resolution and adjust various photo and video-quality settings. Producing high-quality 720p HD resolution, the camera also automatically sharpens images and 'TrueColour' adjusts exposure for bright, lifelike footage, even under low or poor lighting conditions.

During our testing, we realised that the mic did not have any noise-cancelling features and can cause some echoing during video chats. Microsoft's LifeCam improves video quality at an affordable cost with excellent ergonomics and style.

Pros:

• Great design and feel

• Easy set-up and installation

• Sleek design

• 720HD video chat with autofocus

Cons:

• Poor mic quality for such a premium device

• Images are overexposed at times.

The Microsoft LifeCam Cinema HD estimated price $12,300.00
