Traffic Changes in Black River

Published:Saturday | July 30, 2016 | 12:00 AM

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists and pedestrians that movements through the town of Black River, St Elizabeth, will be curtailed today into tomorrow morning. Changes in traffic flow will begin at 8 a.m. today through to 2 a.m. tomorrow.

The changes are as follows: Church Street will be closed up to the Tax Administration of Jamaica office location. School Street will allow for two-way traffic, travelling from the Sagicor Bank towards the Jamaica Public Service office. This will be for vehicles travelling along High Street from the direction of the Black River Hospital. A section of North Street will be closed from the Anglican Church, at the intersection of High Street and North Street, to Station Alley, in front of the Hometime Cable Office.

Market Street will be converted to a two-way thoroughfare to accommodate vehicles coming in and out of Black River from the direction of the bridge and also from Luana. Traffic coming from the west on High Street into Black River will be diverted on to Exchange Drive, through New Town on to Central Road and into Black River Town.

The changes are to facilitate the staging of Black River Day activities by the St Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce, Black River Chapter, and the Parish Council.
