Weather: NWA personnel put on high alert

The National Works Agency (NWA) says its personnel in each parish and contractors have been put on high alert to be responsive at short notice.

Communication and Customer Services Manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says the Agency has a disaster plan in place.

He says the NWA is closely monitoring key areas which are highly susceptible to landslides.

Shaw says the NWA is continuing to monitor the situation to see whether it needs to position equipment in some areas in case of need.

Last night he said that decision had not yet been made, as the NWA has to first ensure such a move is necessary, given the cost.

Meanwhile, the NWA has advised motorists to avoid Marcus Garvey Drive in St Andrew in light of the expected increased rainfall.
