JUTC averts strike action by Spanish Town drivers

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) had to move swiftly to avert strike action by some of its bus drivers, which would have affected hundreds of passengers who use its Spanish Town bus depot in St Catherine.

Early this morning the bus drivers went on strike to protest the firing of close to a dozen of their colleagues who the company claims were in breach of JUTC rules.

Marketing and Communication Manager at (JUTC) Reginald Allen refused to state the exact rules which were breached adding that he would not want to compromise the investigations which are ongoing.

However, Allen says things are back to normal at the Spanish Town bus depot after the JUTC's management met with the disgruntled bus drivers and yielded to some of their requests.
