Lascelles Chin, US professor to receive honorary NCU degrees

Founder of LASCO, Lascelles Chin and United States university professor Albert Reece are to receive honorary doctorate degrees from the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) at the institution's graduation ceremony on August 14.

Chin will be conferred with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, while Reece will receive an honorary Doctor of Science.

Chin, founder and executive chairman of LASCO Affiliated Companies is being recognised for his contribution "to the development of society," the university said.

Meanwhile, Reece, who is also Jamaican, is the vice-president for medical affairs and dean of the School of Medicine at the University of Maryland in the United States.

NCU said he "is actively involved in research and education and directs a multimillion-dollar research laboratory focusing on the bio-molecular mechanisms of diabetes-induced birth defects and has published extensively in scientific literature."
